NORTH Devon+ wants the views of businesses on possible future LEADER funding. The LEADER 4 Torridge and North Devon programme distributed £3.6 million in grants as project funding and development support to improve the economy, environment and up to 2013. This was funded from the European Union Common Agricultural Policy and by Defra. The funding supported 101 individual businesses and 55 projects managed by communities, groups and organisations.

The priorities for the next LEADER programme are to support increased farm productivity, micro/small enterprise support and farm diversification, rural tourism and services, cultural and heritage activity, and increased forestry productivity.

Informal consultation events will be held at the Amory Centre, South Molton on June 19 from 12pm to 2.30pm and at the Plough Arts Centre, Great Torrington on June 25 from 6pm to 8.30pm. Call for details and to confirm a place on 01237 426423.
