MATT MORRISH and Tom Clark scored try hat-tricks as Barnstaple made it two wins out of two in the Devon Under-16 League.
After opening up with a 31-12 victory against Bideford, Barum did even better away to Exeter Chiefs on Sunday – scoring 10 tries in a 60-5 win.
They started positively and soon opened the scoring with wing Morrish set free on the left. Morrish added another try within a few minutes, again breaking down the left.
Exeter then had a period of pressure that resulted in a try but a fine run by Will Knill took him in under the posts for Barnstaple.
Knill then offloaded for Henry Watkins to score and set up Morrish's third try with a miss-pass.
With Knill kicking two conversions and Matthew Symons one, Barnstaple led 31-5.
That was how it stayed until 20 minutes from time when Exeter's forwards tired and Barum took advantage.
A cross-kick from Knill saw right wing Will Harrison canter in to score.
A few minutes later Knill broke through the line and fed Clark for a try under the posts.
Clark soon capitalised on a poorly-placed clearance kick and outpaced the defence to score his second.
A break by Morrish then created a try for Spencer Merrifield and Clark finished off his hat-trick after a spell of pressure from the backs.
Knill added two more conversions for a personal tally of 13 points.
