But now we at the Journal want to know what you call your television remote.
A list compiling the top 50 names used for the remote control has been released after a survey, conducted by NetVouchercodes.co.uk, asked 1,000 people.
The list includes terms such as whatjamacallit, thingymajiggy, controller, zapper and whatsit. As well as the more bizarre terms including doofangle, doubery, yeti, oojimeflip and melly.
