Firefighters tackled a fire involving 30 bales of hay at a farm in Ashwater near Beaworthy yesterday.
One fire crew from Holsworthy, two from Launceston and the water carrier from Barnstaple, attended the scene at around 4.22pm.
The hay bales were placed against a barn and crews were worried the fire would quickly spread to the outbuilding.
Firefighters put a water shuttle in place and got to work with two hose reel jets and drag forks to turn hay over and damp down.
At 6.45pm, crews were using farm machinery to move the hay from the area and were continuing to dampen down.
By 8.49pm, 95% of the hay had been moved away from the barn and had been dampened.
In total, crews used four hose reel jets, two main jets and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the blaze.
