Three car crash closes A39 near Bideford

A three-vehicle crash at rush-hour this morning has closed a section of the A39 near Bideford.

Police said a red Vauxhall Astra, a red Nissan Terrano and a grey Seat Ibiza collided at around 8.05am.

The crash occurred on the Bideford-bound carriageway between Atlantic Village and Heywood Roundabout, near to the turning for Westward Ho!.

Police said the occupants of the vehicles sustained minor injuries but no serious injuries were reported.

The Bideford-bound carriageway remains closed while the debris is cleared and the damaged vehicles are removed from the road.

The opposite side of the carriageway remains open to motorists and a contraflow system is in place to divert around the crash scene.

Elsewhere, the B3227 is currently closed between Taddiport and Langtree after a car struck a telegraph pole and wall.
