Two people have been arrested in connection with a number of burglaries in the Braunton area.
Police arrested a 32-year-old local man and 40-year-old local woman on suspicion of burglary as part of on-going investigations into the incidents. They are currently on police bail whilst enquiries continue.
The arrests follow a series of burglaries at properties in Rectory Close, Wrafton, Shortacombe Drive, Curve Acre, East Meadow Road, Moor Lea and Fairlynch Close between October 23 and November 3.
All properties were unoccupied at the time of the incidents and police said jewellery was stolen from a number of houses.
Officers are not ruling out a possible link to a cluster of similar offences that took place in Yelland at the end of September.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We are advising local residents who are planning a trip away from home to make efforts to ask a neighbour or friend to keep an eye on the house, to use timing devices for lighting and a radio in the evenings to indicate someone may be inside and also to photograph any valuable items of jewellery which may help the police in the recovery of stolen items.
“We are also asking people to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities they witness.”
Anyone with any information that may assist police with their enquiries should contact DC 3951 Phil Lawes on 101.
