CHIVENOR Air Cadets have hosted a flying visit from the former chief of the air staff, air chief marshal Sir Peter Squire.

Sir Peter visited the unit last month as part of a tour of Devon and Somerset’s Wing Air Training Corps.

During the visit he tested the squadron’s detailed flight simulator, observed the cadets during navigation and radio communication training and presented certificates to cadets for Duke of Edinburgh, first aid and academic achievements.

Sir Peter served as chief of the air staff for more than three years before handing over to Sir Jock Stirrup in 2003.

For more information on the air cadets, visit www.chivenoraircadets.org.uk or call 01271 817318 on Monday or Thursday evenings.
