A BARNSTAPLE pub which has opened and shut down several times in the last few years has re-opened again, with the new landlady promising to "try everything" to make it a success this time.
The Wrey Arms, in Sticklepath, opened its doors for the first time in six weeks over the Easter weekend.
It shut down in February when landlord Julian Turner, who also runs the Aggi in Braunton, decided he could no longer afford to run it while it made a loss.
But one of his employees, Jacqui Ferrar, is determined to turn the business round and believes she can make it a success.
She took on the leasehold of the pub with partner Martin Found and says the pair are going to do whatever it takes to make the pub a thriving part of the Sticklepath community.
"There's massive potential here," said Jacqui, "it just needs young blood.
"Because I've been here for a while I know what needs to change.
"It's been the same for six years so I'm determined to try everything no-one else has and make it a success."
And Jacqui's plans got off to a good start over Easter weekend, with the pub jam-packed. "It was manic," she said.
