A woman suffered minor injuries after her car struck a telegraph pole in Ilfracombe this afternoon.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene in Slade Road at around 2pm.
Officers said a black Vauxhall Corsa, registered to an address in Braunton, collided with the BT pole causing it to snap at the base and fall onto the pavement.
The female driver was able to free herself from the vehicle but was suffering from “seatbelt injuries” and had to be treated at the scene by paramedics. Her injuries are not thought to be serious.
Fire crews from the town made the vehicle and pole safe before engineers from Western Power Distribution and BT arrived at the scene.
Police cordoned off the pavement while the pole was removed and engineers worked to rectify the issue.
