A 72-year-old woman has been charged with GBH after a man was found with stab wounds at a property in Northam in the early hours of Monday.

A 72-YEAR-OLD woman has been charged with GBH after a man was found with stab wounds at a property in Northam.

Anne Tucker, from the Bideford area, was arrested at the house in J.H. Taylor Drive at around 2.40am on Monday.

She was taken into custody at Barnstaple Police Station and has since been charged with the lower charge of grievous bodily harm.

She has been released on police bail and is due to appear at North Devon Magistrates’ Court on October 11.

Police and an ambulance were called to the house in the early hours after receiving reports a man had been stabbed.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a 79-year-old man with a number of stab wounds to his neck, hands and leg.

He was taken to North Devon District Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery.
