WET and windy conditions are to settle in over North Devon, with the Met Office warning drivers to take care when travelling.

The current band of heavy rain is expected to quickly pass over the region through the morning, clearing by around 11am.

It will be replaced with a new wave of blustery conditions, with winds picking up through the rest of the day.

Reaching top speeds of 40mph, these winds will be joined by heavy showers – causing temperatures to feel much cooler than the maximum of 9C forecast for today.

Overnight these showers are expected to turn wintry over much of the region, with temperatures dropping as low as 0C.

Drivers are being warned to take care when travelling tomorrow morning, with the wet and freezing conditions creating a chance of ice on the region’s roads, particularly on higher ground.

Through the day the wintry showers will continue, turning to hail in some inland areas.

Maximum temperatures will be 7C.
