THERE is only one day left of this year's Weight Loss Challenge, meaning participants are looking forward to donning their suits and ballgowns to celebrate their new figures.
The end of challenge ball takes place this Saturday, where the participants with the biggest percentage weight loss will be announced.
For the last 16 weeks challengers have been following a new healthy diet and sweating it out in the gym every week in a bid to shed the pounds.
Wayne Large, of Absolute Training, who has run the challenge since it started four years ago, says the success of the challengers always depends on their consistency and perseverance.
"Dealing with willpower issues can be difficult, and I think the guys have helped each other a lot by writing positive comments on the Facebook page," he said. "If someone was struggling they would share it on the Facebook page and the others would offer advice and pick the person up.
"As a group I feel they bonded from the beginning and have all been great fun to work with. Their results have been great. Some had a slow start but all have managed to drop a good amount of weight over the weeks.
"Be consistent and persevere and you will get the results that the guys who have done the challenge achieved this year."
The challenge this year has been sponsored by Taylor Fasteners, in Pottington, who have donated the first prize, and Milanna make-up artists, who are donating a second place prize of a free makeover and professional photos.
Jo Williams who runs Milanna, which is based in Bideford, will be giving the challengers a makeover before the ball. She says it will be the biggest job she has ever done as a make-up artist.
"We have only been going since August," she said. "Emma from North Devon Hospice contacted us after seeing our work online. This is definitely the biggest job we have ever done.
"We are really looking forward to doing it because my sister has done fundraising work for the hospice and that is why it was something I was keen to get involved with."
Steph Ham, of Tangles hairdressers in Braunton, will also be on-hand on Saturday to do the participants' hair before their big night.
