THE opening of a Wetherspoon pub in Ilfracombe has been delayed by bad weather.
Work at the site in Wilder Road is progressing and the pub, which has been designed to resemble a seashell, is still set to open before the main holiday season.
The Admiral Collingwood, which is under construction on Wilder Road was due to open on April 22.
But a number of issues, including bad weather, mean the opening has been postponed until May.
Architect Paul Harrison said: “We had a site meeting on Friday.
“Works are progressing behind programme due to a number of site issues but also the recent weather.
“The completion and opening has now been put back until May.”
Mr Harrison said the pub would add something “unique and dynamic” to the town.
He said it would stand out from surrounding buildings, adding: “We could have gone for something to fit with what’s there already but we didn’t feel that was appropriate.”
