A ROYAL Navy sailor is bringing festive cheer to his family and friends this Christmas, despite being deployed thousands of miles away.
William Adams, who is on a six-month operation aboard HMS Edinburgh in the South Atlantic, starred alongside fellow crew members in a video rendition of The Darkness’s Christmas Time.
Taking time out from their anti-drugs operations off the west coast of Africa, the 20-year-old from South Molton joined colleagues in filming personal messages to send to family back home.
Although this is the first time William has been deployed during the festive period, he has already had experience spending the festive period away from home.
He said: “The first Christmas I didn’t go home was when I was working at the duty watch in Portsmouth.
“This year it’s harder because I won’t actually see them until March. It will be fun on board though. The officers will be serving us dinner for a change.”
