THOUSANDS of people thronged the streets of Ilfracombe on Thursday night for the town’s annual carnival.
The procession started at 7pm and organisers said the good weather encouraged even more people out to watch the event than usual.
One of the organisers Marnie Quy said this year the route of carnival had changed slightly from previous years but that the change hadn’t effect the event’s popularity.
She said: “We had a couple of changes but there were thousands of people out to watch it. They were gathering from about an beforehand. I think the weather definitely helped.
“In total we had 38 different entries including floats and walking entries.
“We aren’t sure how much the event has raised yet but all the funds will be going to the North Devon Hospice.”
