A BRITISH Surf Champion from Croyde has starred in a new international Nike Advert.
Laura Crane, 18, stars in the advert alongside singer Jessie J, and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.
Nike have launched the series of new adverts to celebrate 25 years of their ‘Just Do It.’ campaign, and the advert that Laura stars in is all about encouraging women to push themselves and find their limits.
Laura, who studied at Braunton Academy and trained at Barnstaple swimming club, stars in the part of the advert dedicated to swimming and surfing.
She is seen swimming lanes at the beginning, before swimming in the ocean at the front of a race, and finally surfing a huge wave at the end of the advert when the ‘Just Do It.’ logo appears.
Laura, who is a model at Models 1, said that being in the advert for Nike was really exciting for her.
She said: “I was in the middle of a competition in France when I got the call from my modelling agency saying they needed me to come to London for a casting the next day.
“But as soon as they said what the casting was for I said yes.”
On its Youtube channel, Nike explain the advert by saying : “We're all capable of a little more - a little faster, a little higher, a little stronger, a little more. And when we look at all of the little things we've done, we'll see the big things we're doing.”
Laura said: “Surfing is a male dominated sport, so anything that encourages more women to get involved in the sport is something that I am all for, definitely.”
The advert has been shown on ITV and Channel 4, but Laura said she hasn't had chance to see it on television yet as she has been competing in Europe.
“I have seen it online, but my parents have seen it on the TV and my mum got pretty excited,” she said.
