Fire crews were alerted after it was feared two people had become trapped in a car which rolled on a road near Ilfracombe last night.

The car had crashed on the A361 at Mullacott Cross just before midnight.

Two men were travelling in the Citroen Saxo, which was the only vehicle involved in the incident.

Crews from Ilfracombe and Woolacombe were called to the scene but upon arrival the team from Ilfracombe found the people to be free of the car.

The Woolacombe crew was therefore not needed.

An ambulance attended the scene and both men were taken to North Devon District Hospital, one with a suspected broken arm.

Police say both men are claiming the other was driving the car when it crashed.

Fire fighters made the scene safe and a recovery truck was called. The road was clear by 12.45am.
