A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill after armed police were called to All Halland Street in Bideford on Sunday.
Six armed police officers took part in the operation after police were called to the address because of a domestic incident. The area surrounding the property, which is believed to be a flat above a business, was cordoned off for around an hour and a half while the operation took place.
Nearby shops were closed and customers in a restaurant were told to stay inside, while social networking website Twitter was awash with rumours of what was going on in the town. Nobody was hurt in the operation, although a BB (ball bearing) gun was confiscated at the time by officers.
A 48-year-old man was taken into custody at Barnstaple police station on Sunday evening and bailed pending further investigations on Monday morning.
