A man had to be cut free from a 4x4 vehicle this morning after it overturned while towing a trailer on the M5.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the southbound carriageway near Cullompton Services at around 9.37am.
Fire crews from Cullompton, Exeter and Tiverton, as well as the heavy rescue appliance from Middlemoor, attended the crash which occurred between junctions 28 and 29.
It is understood the trailer overturned onto the carriageway, blocking lanes one and two of the motorway.
Upon arrival, crews found the male driver of the 4x4 trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to cut him free.
He was suffering chest pains and minor cuts and was treated by paramedics.
The incident was passable, via lane one, although there were heavy traffic queues in the area.
The vehicle was recovered and all three carriageways of the motorway have since reopened.
