AN Appledore supermarket has been inundated with tributes for one of its members of staff and his wife who were involved in a fatal crash.
Penny Woolaway, 67, from Appledore, was killed in the crash on the A39 at Westleigh junction on Saturday, February 22, and husband Mark, who works at John's in Appledore, remains in a coma.
The owner of John's of Appledore and Instow, Anthony Johns, set up a basket at the front of his store in Appledore, as he said a number of customers had been asking to pass on condolences to Mr and Mrs Woolaway's family. He said: "Mark has worked for us for around three years and is an extremely popular member of staff.
"He is very well known and has a lot of very loyal customers who enjoy coming in and chatting with him."
He said since the crash, many people had been asking after Mark, so he decided to set up a little basket where people could put cards to pass on to the family.
He added: "They have both been very key and popular members of the community here."
