A MAN who “flying kicked” a door in his partner’s house while his children were present has appeared in court.
Jake O’Regan, 21, of John Howe Close in Torrington, appeared before North Devon magistrates charged with the offence last Friday.
The court heard O’Regan arrived at the property in Torrington at around 10am.
His partner then received a call from Tarka Housing to say she was going to be evicted due to O’Regan’s behaviour.
This caused him to become upset so he left the property and returned half an hour later when he had calmed down.
His partner asked him to go and get some things from the shop and he returned hours later at 6.30pm, walked straight into the kitchen and threw a carton of milk at the wall.
The court heard he then ripped the stairgate off the children’s room, causing damage to the frame.
He then left so his partner rang her mother.
O’Regan returned at 7.30pm and was told to leave but instead he took a “running, flying kick” at the front door, causing it to crack.
Tim Hook, for the defence, said O’Regan’s actions were not at all directed at his partner.
He added: “If he had an inanimate object in the garden he could kick instead of the milk or the child’s gate he might not be here today.”
O’Regan pleaded guilty to the criminal damage and magistrates put the case back until October 25 for probation reports to be prepared.
