A SHOW exploring the 2011 UK riots comes to the Queen's Theatre next week. It follows Michael Woodman, a "cheery everyman" who is attempting to develop an opinion on the civil unrest.
It attempts to challenge audience members' pre-existing opinions by offering arguments from many sides. It also demonstrates the evolution of crowd psychology and its influence on crowd management by police forces.
Why were some parts of the UK set alight while many others were left untouched? Who is present at a riot? If the actions are "mindless" what's in the mind at the time? Three performers use text and torchlight to unpick the presumed causes of civil unrest.
Worklight Theatre presents How To Start A Riot on Thursday, October 3, 8pm at studio@QT, at the Queen's Theatre, Barnstaple. Tickets: £9 (adult), £5 (NDT member and under 25s). Box office: 01271 324242 or visit www.northdevontheatres.org.uk.
