SUPERMARKET chain Tesco has submitted planning applications for works on the site of a proposed new Express store in Westward Ho!

Planning permission for a retail store has already been granted at the Sunshine Leisure Takeaway and arcade in Golf Links Road.

The minor planning applications submitted by the supermarket chain to Torridge District Council include permission for an ATM and a cover signage.

A Tesco spokesman said: "We have submitted some plans for minor works to Torridge District Council. These are likely to be reviewed over the summer and we will continue to keep residents up-dated on progress.

I assume by that remark you are suggesting I'm a Troll, Just because we differ in opinions, dosesn't make me one and there is no need for baby name calling because of it...

Artful, does the word "troll" have any meaning for you?

As I said as long as you are happy to spend more in these shops I am sure they will survive :-)

Well, Artful, I was talking about more than just the Co-op. As for Braddicks, they own almost everything else and have done for some time. I don't use what they have. And certainly don't buy a pint. More likely to go to Bideford's Royal Hotel for a quiet drink.

You mean the CO-OP Don? the same shop that on average are 50p an item more than Tesco? I don't see you moaning when the Braddicks buy up and monopolise all the pubs in the area and then charge £4.50 a pint, that somehow is acceptable.... If you and the anti Tesco brigade support all the local shops that you champion they will more than be able to survive, I for one will welcome cheaper shopping and a free ATM
