GREASE is the word for Atlantic Coast Theatre (ACT) who will be putting on the popular musical at the Queen’s Theatre in June.
The amateur theatre group is looking for talented people to audition for the production.
Auditions in vocal, movement and dialogue will take place between February 18 and 20, 7pm to 10pm at Landkey Primary School.
“ACT would like to invite anyone interested in taking part in the show to attend,” said ACT’s Holly Bransby. “Nobody has to be the world’s greatest singer, actor or dancer (Simon Cowell won’t be on the judging panel).
“What we are looking for are keen members to join the group who are able to show enthusiasm, energy and commitment to add to the flare that Grease the musical is so well known for.
“We look forward to seeing lots of faces, old and new, there.”
John Travolta and Olivia Newton John played Danny and Sandy in the 1978 film. The two lead characters battle to stay true to their feelings for each other amid the peer pressures they face during their final year at school. Songs include Go Greased Lighting and Hopelessly Devoted To You.
“Love, friendship, adolescence, teenage rebellion and a spot of gang rivalry make for a show full of high energy, swinging moods and masses of fun,” added Holly.
Details on the auditions can be found on the group’s website: www.atlanticcoasttheatre.
Grease will be performed at the Queen’s Theatre, Barnstaple from Thursday, June 26 to Sunday, June 29. Box office: 01271 324242.
