SELLING everything from American barbecue to Mexican dishes and ice cream, the street food phenomenon hits Barnstaple this Sunday. strEAT Food Barnstaple gives you the chance to tuck into delicious treats by some of the most popular mobile food vendors from North Devon and beyond, alongside a host of other entertainment.
“There’s so many brilliant local producers out and about around North Devon at any one time,” said Matt Spencer, owner of Barnstaple’s Custom House and curator of the festival. “It just seemed logical to bring them all together.”
Based in the Pannier Market, strEAT will feature more than a dozen different vendors selling French classics and fish dishes, to Caribbean and Indian food, and more. Those with a sweet tooth will be catered for too, with ice cream and milkshakes on offer.
And to wash down the array of grub, there will be bars from Lilicos, Venton Cyder and Barum Brewery offering a selection of drinks.
There will also be musical entertainment to keep your ear drums occupied throughout the day, with local bands Scott Xander Linn And The Broken Bottles, Douglas E Powell, Small Town Jones and Inkoded all performing.
“We want strEAT to have a real festival vibe. After all, it’s a celebration,” Matt added. “We often hear there isn’t much to do in Barnstaple, so we wanted to provide an event that everyone could come and enjoy, from families who want something fun to do, people who want to try some different food or just anyone looking to have a good time.”
strEAT Food Barnstaple takes place in the Pannier Market, Barnstaple on Sunday, August 24 from 12pm to 7pm. Details: 01271 322143.
