THROUGH the pages of the Journal I should like to thank Stagecoach staff and local management for the exemplary service which I received on July 16/17, after having dropped my card holder on the number 9 bus to Bishops Tawton.
The loss was not noticed until the following day when I boarded the bus for Barnstaple and enquired of the driver about the procedure for lost property.
He tried, without success, to call the supervisor, so on arrival at the bus station, he took me to the supervisor. He rang the depot and informed me that the card holder had been found. This was at 10.45am.
At noon I returned to the bus station to be reunited with my card holder, all intact, thus saving me the hassle of cancelling and replacing cards.
While there has been criticism over the years of some of Stagecoach's commercial tactics in the area of local bus service provision, I can have nothing but praise for the service which I received from the local staff. I was also informed that 90 per cent of lost property is reunited with its owner.
Barnstaple people are much more honest than sometimes painted. It does restore one's faith in human nature.
