Stagecoach South West is investing £4 million in a new fleet of 22 high specification Scania Enviro 400 buses for its flagship North Devon Wave bus route.
The buses, which will arrive from the end of May, are built to the latest environmental standards and represent the single biggest investment in Stagecoach's North Devon bus network to date.

The new vehicles will be dedicated to the operator's flagship North Devon Wave bus route which operates between Ilfracombe, Braunton, Barnstaple, Instow or East the Water, Bideford and Westward Ho! or Appledore and, on their arrival, Stagecoach will be revealing an updated version of the North Devon Wave livery.
Michelle Hargreaves, Managing Director of Stagecoach South West, said: "Over the last few years we've worked very hard in North Devon to build a stable and sustainable bus network.

"This substantial investment in new vehicles demonstrates we will be continuing to build on this success in the years to come.

"I can't wait to see our updated North Devon Wave livery in place and I think our customers will love the new look."
Ten of the current North Devon Wave buses carry the name of a staff member's daughter.

These names will be applied to the new vehicles and, as part of the operator's launch activities, there will be an opportunity for members of the public to nominate names for the remaining vehicles.

Wouldnt it be nice to have a double decker on the 7.30am route from Bideford Quay to Barnstaple bus station instead of the poxy little thing we get that is normally packed before we even leave the Quay!!!. And wouldnt it be nice to have 1 run right through to the hospital!! :-). Yeah right!!
