Sowden Reservoir in Barnstaple was sold at a public auction for South West Water this afternoon.
The redundant reservoir was sold for £140,000 through Webbers, to a local couple who are planning to convert the premises to live in.
The plan created for the Sowden Reservoir offers the site with accommodation of over 2000 square feet, and includes a large living space together with a kitchen, study and two bedrooms both with en suite bathrooms.
Additionally, the property plan benefits from a guest wing with bedroom, dressing area and bathroom. The drawings also provide for a water feature/infinity pool, together with a walled garden, ample parking space and garaging for two vehicles.
The auction department at Webbers' Barnstaple office has been handling the disposal of redundant assets for South West Water for the past five years. Since 2009, Webbers have hosted eight auction sales on behalf of the West Country's water company, and in that time 260 separate lots have been offered for sale throughout Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.
