Son denies stealing from his mother when she lived in North Devon

A SON has denied stealing from his mother when he was looking after her finances and she was living in North Devon.

Derek Snelling, 67, from Essex, pleaded not guilty to a single charge of fraud when he appeared before Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, at Exeter Crown Court.

He is accused of dishonestly taking cash from the bank account of Ellen Snelling between August 2007 and March 2013.

She is in her 90s and was living in North Devon at the time of the alleged offences.

The judge set a timetable for the progress of the case and set a provisional trial date for June 17 this year. Snelling was remanded on bail.
