THE Apprenticeship Showcase on March 13 at the Barnstaple Hotel will be the focal point of the 2014 North Devon Apprenticeship Campaign.
As in previous years, the showcase will offer impartial guidance, training expertise and support for employers who are new to apprenticeships or want to learn more about the opportunities.
The annual one-day event allows employers to drop in at a time to suit them. This will be the fourth year that the Employment and Skills Board (ESB) has hosted the event.
Sarah Grigg, employment and skills manager, said: "We have a steering group of enthusiastic volunteers from the National Apprenticeship Service, Careers South West, Jobcentre Plus, Group Training and Development, and local members of the Devon and Cornwall Training Provider Network, including Petroc.
"We meet throughout the year, listen to what employers are telling us, study the apprenticeship data, and research the latest information on grants to ensure we share up to date government thinking with local employers.
"Listening to businesses is essential. We want to know what the issues and barriers are to using apprenticeships as a form of recruitment. We then endeavour to make the process of taking on an apprentice as straightforward as possible."
The Apprenticeship Showcase is on March 13 at the Barnstaple Hotel. There is also an Employers Breakfast from 8am to 9am for small business owners who do not wish to interrupt their working day. Visit ndapprenticeships.co.uk.
