Sentencing delay due to ins and outs of case

THE sentencing of a teenager who admitted threatening and abusive behaviour inside and outside a Barnstaple nightclub has been delayed.

Denver Churcher, 18, of Flat 2, Ruthwell House, Barnstaple, appeared before North Devon Magistrates' Court on Friday where he pleaded guilty to the charge.

However, Zara Svensson, for the defence, made it clear that the defendant was pleading guilty to "only being out of order outside the club, rather than inside as well".

Ben Winzer, for the prosecution, said the charge was based on the defendant throwing a glass inside Toko nightclub, an incident which Churcher has denied.

The case has been adjourned for a Newton hearing which will take place on March 5 to establish the evidence in the case.

Churcher was granted unconditional bail.
