IN an age where disgruntled customers are all too quick to tweet #fail about a bad experience, one satisfied customer in Instow was so pleased with his new heat and energy generating systems that he wrote to the Journal.
Michael Davis commissioned RES (Devon) Ltd of Pottington to install a 4kw photovoltaic electricity generation system plus a 20-tube solar heating system for heating hot water.
Michael was pleased with RES (Devon)'s work from start to finish: "Damien, the salesman/carpenter, was very courteous, patient and knowledgeable. He took measurements of our roof plus angles and then sat down with us to explain the systems, the benefits, the paybacks we could receive on both the electrical and heating systems and how much his company would be involved with it all."
After receiving a full quotation two days later, Michael visited RES (Devon)'s unit to see the different systems on display and working.
The installation, including erection and dismantling of scaffolding, went very smoothly and on schedule, and afterwards Damien called to check everything was working. He also helped with the completion of forms and answered questions.
Michael was chuffed to see that even on a dull day the system generated 459w, the temperature going into the cylinder was 20 degrees and the smart meter was reading 000, even though lights and a computer were on.
David Jeffery, director of RES (Devon), said: "We're delighted to receive such positive feedback from Mr and Mrs Davis. We work hard to ensure that the customer is involved in the process and that we offer guidance when needed.
"We listen to our customers and try to offer the most appropriate solution for them. We don't sub contract any installation work to other companies – we use our own skilled personnel. RES (Devon) responds to customer enquiries – we don't cold call or pressure customers.
"There is a healthy interest in renewable technologies at the moment. The latest government-backed schemes such FIT (Feed In Tarrif), RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) and the Green Deal encourage householders to consider these schemes."
RES (Devon) was established in 2006 and now has a team of 21 people. It specialises in bespoke energy solutions based on renewable technologies. It is MCS accredited for heat pumps, biomass, solar thermal and solar PV. It also offers underfloor heating and whole-house ventilation.
Michael concluded: "All in all, we were very pleased with the efficiency and work ethic of the young men who came to do the job, the tidiness of the completed works and the explanations readily given.
"We will, without hesitation, recommend RES (Devon) for solar photovoltaic panels and solar heating systems. They do, or arrange, everything from surveys to scaffolding to paperwork and instructions. A brilliant local company."
