CELEBRATING 20 years at the top, popular comedian Al Murray is heading to Torrington this weekend. Murray, aka The Pub Landlord, is at the Plough on Saturday night, performing a new set of tomfoolery and high jinks with his stand-up show One Man, One Guvnor.
It’s been around 18 months since Murray last frequented the stage in Devon – his most recent gig was in May 2013, also at the Plough.
Having spent 12 dates at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer perfecting his set, fans can expect the usual intriguing glimpses into the landlord’s outrageous takes on life; including politics and nationalism, as well as his signature shocking, loudmouthed, lager-swilling outbursts.
The man behind the monster is, you may be surprised to learn, not as brash and barbarous as his character – Murray studied history at Oxford and went to public school, shock! horror!
But audience members can expect to be giggling the night away as his anniversary celebrations begin.
Tickets have sold out in advance to members of the Plough’s e-mail list.
