A FISH and chip shop which was badly damaged by a fire last year is now up for sale.

Mor-T-Eat in Mortehoe has undergone a drastic refurbishment since the blaze in July, 2013, which took 35 firefighters to extinguish.

Current owner Sue Grice has made the decision to sell the shop after eight and a half years in Mortehoe.

She said: "I've really enjoyed working here over the years; Mortehoe is an absolutely beautiful place to work and live.

"We've had regular visitors and been part of a great community; everyone came together especially when we had the fire.

"It was frightening and it's been a lot of work, but the builders have been fabulous, they have done a great job."

After the fire, the community held a charity event for Sue and her family at the Smugglers Rest pub.

"Our neighbours and the community have been amazing," said Sue. "They organised the event and local musician Peter Bruntnell and his band played too.

"We only just moved back in two weeks ago, as the refurbishment work started in October. But I'm hoping to move up to Shropshire now to be closer to my daughter."

The shop includes a brand new gas frying range, new freezers and fridges, a new venting system and the shop has been totally refurbished.

Sue added: "It would be great if someone local wanted to buy the place, but to be honest it would be great for anyone.

"It is a fantastic lifestyle and I've had so much fun working here."
