AFTER spending a record amount of money during the summer transfer window, Barclays Premier League clubs must wait until January before they make more permanent signings.
When the deadline passed at 11pm on Monday, £835 million had been spent by top-flight clubs.
They can now sign out-of-contract players and make “emergency” loan deals, for example if a goalkeeper is not available. All other transfers will have to wait until the next transfer window in January.
Sky Bet Football League and Vanarama Conference clubs can sign players on loan from September 8-November 25 and February 8-March 24.
The big deadline-day deals involved Manchester United who signed Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind, and allowed Danny Welbeck to join Arsenal.
