A car rolled off the A377 road at 6am this morning after hitting ice around one mile from the Chapelton train station.
The Citreon Saxo, which was being driven by a 25-year-old man from Chulmleigh, was the only vehicle involved in the incident.
Police and ambulance crews attended the scene. Police said the driver complained of a head injury which was deemed to be minor by the ambulance service.
The road remains open but police caution signs have been erected.
Police said the driver was arranging collection of the vehicle.
Police spokesman Alan Mobbs said: "Anyone who scrapes ice off their car in the morning should not be surprised to find ice on the roads.
"Our advice is always to slow down and make sure your car is properly maintained, especially the tyres tread, tyre pressure and windscreen washers."
