Police are appealing for witnesses to an alleged firearms incident near Crediton earlier today.
Firearms officers and local police were called to the scene on the outskirts of Spreyton shortly before 8am after a member of the public reported seeing a man with a firearm.
He was one of a group of three man who were seen driving on land near the village in a black Vauxhall Corsa, or similar model.
Detective Sergeant Mark Sloman, investigating officer based in Okehampton, said: “I’d like to reassure people what this was an isolated incident and we do not believe any member of the public was in danger at any stage.
“However as a precautionary measure, firearms officers attended.”
Anyone who saw the vehicle or anyone acting suspiciously in the area is asked to call police on 101 quoting log 90 of March 5.
