Last season's National League Three South West meeting between Avonmouth Old Boys and Barnstaple was one of the tightest, most hard-fought games of the campaign.
But only about half the players on duty in tomorrow's rematch will remember the occasion.
On a cold and wet January afternoon – conditions described as "horrendous" by then Barnstaple director of rugby Kevin Squire – Avonmouth won 25-24 with a last-minute penalty by ex-Barum player Joe Wearne.
Only eight players from either side who started that match are likely to line up eight months on at Barracks Lane tomorrow.
One of those not playing will be Barnstaple back Linford Brock who suffered an ankle injury in the win over Amersham and Chiltern last weekend. Brock scored two tries at Avonmouth last season as Barnstaple led 17-5 at half time and 24-22 going into the final stages.
Barnstaple won the home meeting between the sides 35-8 last September with 25 points from Josh Squire. Barum finished the season one place and 21 points above Avonmouth in 10th.
With eight new signings settling in, Avonmouth have lost their first three games, while Barnstaple have started with two wins and a defeat.
Will Topps will return to the back division for Barum who are likely to find a place for Matt Down after his impressive goal-kicking on debut against Chiltern.
