CONTINUING Pearce Barnstaple's long tradition of helping to shape policies and industry developments, head of new homes Paul Knox has relished his first year on the executive board of the House Builders Association (HBA).
A division of the National Federation of Builders, the HBA is recognised by the Government and the media as the "voice of small and medium-sized house builders".
Paul said: "The HBA deserves its reputation for being proactive on all the issues which affect house builders and ultimately of course, their clients.
"For example, it has been continually drawing attention to the problems faced in securing development funding and the unequal treatment of their members, compared with the 'volume builders'.
"The announcement of Help to Buy has really levelled things out and the HBA is continuing to press for simplifying registration and access to the scheme. These are exactly the kinds of issues that really impact our members and I am really pleased to be able to use my experience to provide whatever support I can."
The HBA is currently lobbying, influencing and informing the Government on issues including planning reforms, zero carbon homes, building regulations, biodiversity offsetting, and sustainable urban drainage systems and the Flood Water Management Act.
