TWO men have been remanded in custody after being charged with robbery.
Alexander Gunn, 41, from Barnstaple and Daniel Howard, 33, of no fixed abode, appeared in front of North Devon Magistrates today after being held in custody following their arrest yesterday.
It is alleged the pair stole cash and damaged a mobile phone belonging to Brendon Young.
The court heard Mr Young, 23, was outside Tesco Express in Barnstaple High Street where it is alleged he was being harassed by a group of people.
It is alleged Gunn and Howard steered Mr Young away from the crowd and led him to another Tesco store in Seven Brethren where the offences took place.
Neither Gunn nor Howard entered pleas to the offences, with which they were jointly charged.
Magistrate Janie Lock remanded in custody until October 31 where the case will be heard at Exeter Crown Court.
