Two coastguard crews rescued a Labrador which had fallen 12ft down a cliff near Ilfracombe yesterday morning.
The crews from Mortehoe and Ilfracombe were called by the police who had been alerted to the incident by the dog’s owner.
The dog, called Radar, had fallen off the cliff near Bull Point lighthouse between Ilfracombe and Mortehoe.
The coastguard crews arrived at the scene at 10.45am and spent nearly two hours rescuing the dog from a ledge it had fallen onto.
One of the coastguards was lowered down to the dog on a line and who then collected the animal in a rescue bag.
The coastguard and the dog were then hauled back up the cliff by the rest of the crews.
The dog and its owner were unharmed and neither needed medical attention.
