PLANS for a Moroccan restaurant in place of a run-down toilet block in Westward Ho! have been given the go ahead by Torridge District Council.

The toilet block, on the village's promenade, was bought at auction by Bideford resident Mr Bouzoubaa in September last year.

Plans to convert the block into a Moroccan eatery were submitted to the council in November, and were last week given the green light.

The plans will see the ex-public conveniences transformed into a restaurant with an impressive roof terrace looking out over the beach and sea.

The council stated in its reasons for approving the plans that the facility would be an acceptable tourist and visitor facility in the resort.
