A 72-year-old woman has appeared at North Devon Magistrates' Court charged with malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Anne Tucker, of J H Taylor Drive, Northam, spoke only to confirm her name, age and address when she appeared before magistrates this afternoon.
Mrs Tucker is alleged to have caused grievous bodily harm to her husband Stanley Tucker in the early hours of the morning on September 16.
In court she was seated next to her solicitor David Rowe on a fold-out zimmer frame, and was surrounded by members of her family.
The case was committed to Exeter Crown Court, where it will be heard on October 25.
Mrs Tucker was bailed until that date, with the conditions to reside at her address in Northam, and only to have supervised, pre-arranged contact with Stanley Tucker.
