Police, a fire crew and the coastguard were all called out to Northam yesterday after teenagers let a flare off which set a field on fire.
The incident happened at midday and was reported to the emergency services by a member of the public.
It was reported that teenagers were seen letting off a flare in Riverside Close which landed in a neighbouring field and set the wild grass alight.
The fire service was called to put the blaze out while the police investigated the incident.
Appledore RNLI crew was launched by the coastguard after reports of a flare being let off in the Torridge Estuary but were stood down soon after.
The fire was put out and the police recorded no crime as they could not track down the teenagers.
The incident will now be left in the hands of the neighbourhood police team who will follow up investigations in the area.
