Following a series of poor results, North Devon A returned to winning ways with a 7-1 home win over Minehead B in the Davis Wood League.

North Devon went 1-0 down in the first minutes but responded well to the early wake-up call.

They went on to dominate the game with Jerry Rowe and Ali Rodway marauding on the flanks and Jed Ash and Joe Taylor Richards working tirelessly up front.

The untested partnership in midfield of Simon Allen and Phil Brand settled quickly and helped to keep the score ticking over.

Allen (two), Rowe (two), Ash and Rodway all scored, with Mark Willey forcing an error from the Minehead defence for the other goal.

Any threat from Minehead was dealth with by man of the match Simon Clements at centre back.

The victory sustains North Devon’s challenge for promotion in South East Two. They are one of three teams on 44 points who are battling it out for second place behind runaway leaders Taunton Civil Service.

North Devon’s first team suffered a setback in their Southern One title bid as they lost 3-2 away to a spirited 10-man Okehampton team.

The defeat knocked them off the top of the table, with Truro A going two points clear thanks to a 4-3 win at Torbay.

Guy Cockcroft and Ash Thorne scored for North Devon but the performance was one to forget and they left feeling they had let themselves down.
