A number of roads remain closed or blocked across North Devon this morning due to flooding.
The A361 North Devon Link Road is currently closed in both directions in Tiverton between the A396 Bolham Road Junction and Heathcoat Way due to severe flooding.
Motorists are advised to take care when travelling on the A39 in Parracombe. There is flooding on the road between the Broadoak Hill junction and the Crooscombe Lane junction.
There is also flooding on the A399 in Brayford between the Shutscombe Hill junction and Rockshead Hill.
The A377 remains closed between Crediton and Exeter due to severe flooding over the last few days. The road is impassable between the A3072 Mill Street junction and the A396 junction in Cowley.
There have also been several reports of surface water on the road between Croyde and Braunton, with flooding reportedly at Chivenor Cross.
Devon County Council’s Highways Centre said many roads were becoming passable this morning with flood waters receding in places. However, it is still advising motorists not to travel unless it is essential and warns of large quantities of debris on roads across the region.
The deluge comes after more than 12 hours of torrential rain fell across the region yesterday.
There may be brief respite this morning, however a weather warning of wind remains in place for the county until midday with severe gales expected.
More heavy rain is expected on Monday. A heavy rain weather warning is in place for Devon and Cornwall until 9pm and forecasters are predicting heavy showers in the afternoon.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed this morning it had taken over 400 emergency calls since 8pm last night.
The fire service said the majority of 999 calls were from members of the public who had been affected by flooding. It also said it had rescued numerous people who had been trapped in their vehicles after becoming stuck in flood water.
