North Devon is set to bask in bright sunshine this weekend with forecasters predicting the country could be in for an Indian Summer.
The whole of Devon and Cornwall was hit with gale force winds and driving rain this week in what was deemed ‘the first storm of autumn’.
However, forecasters now predict temperatures could reach 20C over the weekend and last long into next week.
Bright sunshine and blue skies are expected to arrive in the county as wind speeds drop from 16mph to 7mph today. As a result it will start to feel a lot warmer.
Forecasters are suggesting a period of prolonged high pressure could mark the start of dry, warm weather which could last as long as ten days.
A Met Office forecaster said: “We are looking at an improving picture as far as the weather is concerned. "Temperatures could reach around 17C today, around 18C on tomorrow, 19C on Sunday and Monday could be as high as 20C or 21C.”
