WOULD-BE chefs from across North Devon are waiting with bated breath to find out whether they will make it on to hit Channel 4 show Come Dine With Me.

The show’s makers have been advertising for contestants from the area for a North Devon episode which is due to be filmed at the end of August.

The episode is expected to air in early 2014.

The show will cast five amateur chefs from across North Devon to each host a dinner party and battle it out for a £1,000 cash prize.

Contestants will be expected to dish up their best culinary creations, which will then be secretly rated out of ten by their fellow diners.

The show quickly became one of the most successful reality shows on television due to the variety of characters in every episode and the witty one liners from voiceover man Dave Lamb.

Come Dine With Me will be coming to North Devon next month for the first time in its eight-year history.

The Journal has quizzed some of the shows applicants to see what you can expect if they make it on to the show.

Find out below what they had to say.

Annmarie Lloyd:

Age: 29

Location: Barnstaple

Describe your character: I would say that I am down to earth and can get on with most people. I have a very dry sense of humour and I am very competitive.

What made you apply for the show? I have zero cooking knowledge and my friends and colleagues take the mickey out of me for it, so I want to show them I can cook if I want to.

What is likely to be on your menu if you make the show?

Stuffed tomatoes, spinach and ricotta gnocchi and chocolate and honeycomb mousse.

Beth Green

Age: 22

Location: Roundswell, Barnstaple

Describe your character: I would say I’m a bubbly, friendly person who likes to have fun.

Why did you apply for the show? I would get to meet some interesting characters and show the world my fantastic cookery skills.

What is likely to be on your menu if you make the show? My signature dish usually is chicken wrapped in bacon stuffed with leeks and cheese sauce, with home-made roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

Laura Graham

Age: 31

Location: Boutport Street, Barnstaple

Describe your character: I am a person that is shy with new people, but do relax and become bubbly after a while.

Why did you apply for the show? I love it and always wanted to go on it.

What is likely to be on your menu if you make the show? We had to give two menus. For one I had a Greek theme with dolmades for starter, a moussaka for main and a cheesecake for dessert. For the second,

rissotto for starter, steak for main and crumble for dessert.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luca Rentona

Age: 24

Location: Abbotsham

Describe your character: I am a decent person who loves having fun, until someone annoys me then I tend to be quite arrogant and rude.

What made you apply for the show? Friends kept pestering me to enter, so I thought why not? Plus my entertainment will win it for me alone.

What is likely to be on your menu if you make the show? I like spicy foods so it would be based around Mexican foods such as enchiladas, Cajun chicken nachos and chilli ice cream.

What would be on your menu if you were to be on Come Dine With Me? Let us know in the box below.
