THE NORTH Devon District under-15 and under-13 girls' teams have been in action against teams from East and West Devon.

The standard of girls' cricket is improving and all the matches were hard fought.

Having been narrowly defeated by the West, North under-15s bounced back by beating East on Sunday.

The under-13s had enjoyed a comfortable victory over West in their first match but suffered a disappointing defeat to East at the weekend, batting second in difficult conditions.

Manager Jan Witheridge and coach Mark Overton were delighted with the girls' performances.

North Devon's Daisy Meadowcroft scored 63 not out for the under-13s against the West and took three wickets for nine runs, a catch and a stumping for the under-15s on Sunday.

Lauren Bowden, of Chulmleigh, has hit unbeaten scores of 51 and 47, while Bideford's Rose Ball recorded figures of four for eight off four overs as well as a stunning catch and a run out.

Rose and Daisy will travel to the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough next week for England Development coaching.
