NORDIC Walking is a fast-growing fitness activity with more than 10 million enthusiasts across the world. It was originally used by cross country skier athletes to stay fit during the summer.
It is performed with walking poles and is said to burn nearly twice as many calories as you would doing regular walking while reducing strain on knees and joints. It also uses more than 90% of the bodies muscles (95% if you talk as well) and is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. Add to that the positive effect that outdoor exercise has on the mind and it sounds like a great activity for those who want to get fit in the fresh air.
